Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

51. 1. By "evils" is meant the recompense for their evils; it is called "evils" in terms of similarity, otherwise the recompense for evil is not itself evil, as in "And the recompense of an evil is an evil like it" (Fath al-Qadir 49).
2. This is a warning to the disbelievers of Makkah; and so it happened—like the previous nations, they too were afflicted with famine, killing, captivity, etc. They could not prevent these punishments that came from Allah.
