Surah Saad (38) — Ayah 75

قَالَ يَـٰٓإِبْلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَن تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَىَّ ۖ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلْعَالِينَ ﴿75﴾
(Allâh) said: "O Iblîs (Satan)! What prevents you from prostrating yourself to one whom I have created with Both My Hands. Are you too proud (to fall prostrate to Adam) or are you one of the high exalted?"
قَالَ qāla He said
يَـٰٓإِبْلِيسُ yāib'līsu O Iblis
مَا What
مَنَعَكَ manaʿaka prevented you
أَن an that
تَسْجُدَ tasjuda you (should) prostrate
لِمَا limā to (one) whom
خَلَقْتُ khalaqtu I created
بِيَدَىَّ ۖ biyadayya with My Hands
أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ astakbarta Are you arrogant
أَمْ am or
كُنتَ kunta are you
مِنَ mina of
ٱلْعَالِينَ l-ʿālīna the exalted ones
