Surah Saad (38) — Ayah 35

قَالَ رَبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَهَبْ لِى مُلْكًا لَّا يَنۢبَغِى لِأَحَدٍ مِّنۢ بَعْدِىٓ ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْوَهَّابُ ﴿35﴾
He said: "My Lord! Forgive me, and bestow upon me a kingdom such as shall not belong to any other after me: Verily, You are the Bestower."
قَالَ qāla He said
رَبِّ rabbi O my Lord
ٱغْفِرْ igh'fir Forgive
لِى me
وَهَبْ wahab and grant
لِى me
مُلْكًۭا mul'kan a kingdom
لَّا not
يَنۢبَغِى yanbaghī (will) belong
لِأَحَدٍۢ li-aḥadin to anyone
مِّنۢ min after me
بَعْدِىٓ ۖ baʿdī after me
إِنَّكَ innaka Indeed, You
أَنتَ anta [You]
ٱلْوَهَّابُ l-wahābu (are) the Bestower

35. 1. That is, the desire for an army of cavalry was not fulfilled under Your wisdom and will, but if You grant me such an authoritative kingdom that no one besides me or after me will have such a kingdom, then there will be no need for offspring. This supplication was also for the dominance of Allah's religion.
