Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

33. 1. The meaning of this verse: The meaning will be that due to the inspection of the horses, the Asr prayer or a special devotional act of Prophet Sulaiman (علیہ السلام) was missed, which he used to perform at that time, and this caused him great distress. He said that I became so engrossed in the love of horses that the sun was veiled by the horizon and the remembrance of Allah, prayer, or devotional act was missed. Therefore, to make amends and compensate for this, he killed all the horses in the way of Allah. Imam Shawkani and Ibn Kathir, etc., have preferred this interpretation.
