Surah Saad (38) — Ayah 27

وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا بَـٰطِلًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ظَنُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ۚ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ ﴿27﴾
And We created not the heaven and the earth and all that is between them without purpose! That is the consideration of those who disbelieve! Then woe to those who disbelieve (in Islâmic Monotheism) from the Fire!
وَمَا wamā And not
خَلَقْنَا khalaqnā We created
ٱلسَّمَآءَ l-samāa the heaven
وَٱلْأَرْضَ wal-arḍa and the earth
وَمَا wamā and whatever
بَيْنَهُمَا baynahumā (is) between them
بَـٰطِلًۭا ۚ bāṭilan without purpose
ذَٰلِكَ dhālika That
ظَنُّ ẓannu (is the) assumption
ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna (of) those who
كَفَرُوا۟ ۚ kafarū disbelieve
فَوَيْلٌۭ fawaylun So woe
لِّلَّذِينَ lilladhīna to those
كَفَرُوا۟ kafarū who disbelieve
مِنَ mina from
ٱلنَّارِ l-nāri the Fire

27. 1. Rather, it has been created for a specific purpose, and that is that My servants worship Me; whoever does so, I will reward him with the best recompense, and whoever turns away from My worship and obedience, for him is the punishment of Hell.
