وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ ﴿179﴾
And watch and they shall see (the torment)!
وَأَبْصِرْ wa-abṣir And see
فَسَوْفَ fasawfa so soon
يُبْصِرُونَ yub'ṣirūna they will see

179. 1. This is stated again for emphasis. Or, the first sentence refers to the worldly punishment that befell the people of Makkah at the hands of the Muslims in the battles of Badr, Uhud, and other wars, in the form of the killing and taking of spoils of the disbelievers. And in the second sentence, the punishment is mentioned which these disbelievers and polytheists will face in the Hereafter.
