سُوْرَةُ الصَّافَّاتِ
Surah As-Saaffaat (37) — Ayah 113
وَبَـٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَـٰقَ ۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٌ ﴿113﴾

We blessed him and Ishâq (Isaac). And of their progeny are (some) that do right, and some that plainly wrong themselves.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf

113. 1. That is, He greatly multiplied the offspring of both of them, and the majority of prophets and messengers were from their lineage. Ishaq (peace be upon him) had a son, Yaqub (peace be upon him), from whose twelve sons the twelve tribes of Bani Israel were formed, and from them the nation of Bani Israel grew and spread, and most of the prophets were from among them. From Ibrahim’s (peace be upon him) other son, Ismail (peace be upon him), the lineage of the Arabs began, and among them was the last prophet, Muhammad Rasulullah ﷺ.
113. 2. By mentioning the righteous and the wicked, despite the blessing in the family of Ibrahim, after committing shirk and disobedience, oppression and corruption, it is indicated that family and ancestral relation have no status with Allah. There, only faith and righteous deeds matter. The Jews and Christians, although they are from the offspring of Ishaq (peace be upon him), and similarly, the polytheists of Arabia are from the offspring of Ismail (peace be upon him), but their deeds are based on clear misguidance or shirk and disobedience. Therefore, these high relations cannot be a substitute for deeds for them.
113. 2.
