سُوْرَةُ يٰسٓ
Surah Yaseen (36) — Ayah 67
وَلَوْ نَشَآءُ لَمَسَخْنَـٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِهِمْ فَمَا ٱسْتَطَـٰعُوا۟ مُضِيًّا وَلَا يَرْجِعُونَ ﴿67﴾
Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
And if it had been Our Will, We could have transformed them (into animals or lifeless objects) in their places. Then they would have been unable to go forward (move about) nor they could have turned back.

67. 1. That is, they could neither go forward nor turn back, but would remain in one place like a stone. مسخہ means a change in creation, that is, to transform from a human into the form of a stone or an animal.
