Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
17-1. Nafs is a common noun which gives a sense of generality, meaning that no one except Allah knows the blessings which He has kept hidden for the mentioned believers, by which their eyes will be cooled. In its explanation, the Prophet ﷺ narrated this Hadith Qudsi that Allah Almighty says: I have prepared for My righteous servants such things which no eye has seen, no ear has heard, nor has it ever occurred to the imagination of any human.
17-2. From this it is understood that in order to become deserving of Allah's mercy, it is necessary to be diligent in performing righteous deeds.
