ثُمَّ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسَـٰٓـُٔوا۟ ٱلسُّوٓأَىٰٓ أَن كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَكَانُوا۟ بِهَا يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ ﴿10﴾
Then evil was the end of those who did evil, because they belied the Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, Messengers, etc.) of Allâh and made a mockery of them.
ثُمَّ thumma Then
كَانَ kāna was
عَـٰقِبَةَ ʿāqibata (the) end
ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna (of) those who
أَسَـٰٓـُٔوا۟ asāū did evil
ٱلسُّوٓأَىٰٓ l-sūā the evil
أَن an because
كَذَّبُوا۟ kadhabū they denied
بِـَٔايَـٰتِ biāyāti (the) Signs
ٱللَّهِ l-lahi (of) Allah
وَكَانُوا۟ wakānū and were
بِهَا bihā of them
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ yastahziūna making mockery

10-1 Suwa'i is the feminine form of Aswa' on the pattern of fa'li from Su', just as Husna is the feminine form of Ahsan from Husn. That is, the outcome that befell them was the worst outcome.
