The Family of Imraan · Medinan · Juz 4 · Page 76

So their Lord accepted of them (their supplication and answered them), "Never will I allow to be lost the work of any of you, be he male or female. You are (members) one of another, so those who emigrated and were driven out from their homes, and suffered harm in My Cause, and who fought, and were killed (in My Cause), verily, I will expiate from them their evil deeds and admit them into Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise); a reward from Allâh, and with Allâh is the best of rewards."

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

195. 1. Here, فَا سْتَجَاب is in the meaning of اَجَابَ 'accepted' (Fath al-Qadeer).

195. 2. The clarification of whether it is a man or a woman is given because Islam, in some matters, has made distinctions between men and women based on their differing natural characteristics. For example, in leadership and authority, in the responsibility of earning a livelihood, in participation in jihad, and in receiving half the share in inheritance. This is so that it is not misunderstood that perhaps there will also be some difference between men and women in the reward for righteous deeds. No! This will not happen; the reward for good deeds that a man receives, a woman will also receive the same.

195. 3. This is a parenthetical sentence; its purpose is to clarify the previous point, that in reward and obedience, you men and women are the same. In some narrations, it is mentioned that Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) once said, "O Messenger of Allah! Allah Almighty has not mentioned women in relation to migration." Upon this, this verse was revealed (Tafsir Tabari, Ibn Kathir, and Fath al-Qadeer).
