Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
141. 1. In Uhud, the temporary defeat that befell the Muslims due to their own shortcomings also contains many wisdoms for the future, which Allah is explaining ahead. One is that He may make the believers manifest (because patience and steadfastness are requirements of faith); those who demonstrated patience and steadfastness in the hardships and calamities of battle, indeed, all of them are believers. Second, that He may grant some people the rank of martyrdom. The last two mean purification and deliverance from sins (فتح الْقدیر). The late translator has adopted the first meaning. Fourth, that He may destroy the disbelievers. This is such that, through temporary victory, their rebellion and arrogance will increase, and this very thing will become the cause of their destruction and ruin.
