Surah Al-Ankaboot (29) — Ayah 61

The Spider · Meccan · Juz 21 · Page 403

And if you were to ask them: "Who has created the heavens and the earth and subjected the sun and the moon?" they will surely reply: "Allâh." How then are they deviating (as polytheists and disbelievers)?
وَلَئِن wala-in And if
سَأَلْتَهُم sa-altahum you ask them
مَّنْ man Who
خَلَقَ khalaqa created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ l-samāwāti the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ wal-arḍa and the earth
وَسَخَّرَ wasakhara and subjected
ٱلشَّمْسَ l-shamsa the sun
وَٱلْقَمَرَ wal-qamara and the moon
لَيَقُولُنَّ layaqūlunna Surely they would say
ٱللَّهُ ۖ l-lahu Allah
فَأَنَّىٰ fa-annā Then how
يُؤْفَكُونَ yu'fakūna are they deluded

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

61-1. That is, these polytheists, who are causing harm to Muslims solely because of monotheism, if they are asked who is the one who brought the heavens and the earth into existence from nothingness and who is the one who causes the sun and the moon to move in their respective orbits, then they have no choice but to admit that all of this is done by Allah.

61-2. That is, despite the evidence and their own admission, denial and avoidance of the truth is astonishing.
