فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ فِى دَارِهِمْ جَـٰثِمِينَ ﴿37﴾
And they belied him [Shu‘aib]: so the earthquake seized them, and they lay (dead), prostrate in their dwellings.
فَكَذَّبُوهُ fakadhabūhu But they denied him
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ fa-akhadhathumu so seized them
ٱلرَّجْفَةُ l-rajfatu the earthquake
فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ fa-aṣbaḥū and they became
فِى in
دَارِهِمْ dārihim their home
جَـٰثِمِينَ jāthimīna fallen prone

37-1. The admonition and advice of Hazrat Shu'ayb ؑ had no effect on them. Eventually, on the day of the shadow of the clouds, with a severe cry from Jibril ؑ, the earth trembled with an earthquake, causing their hearts to reach their eyes and they died, remaining seated on their knees as they were.
