Surah Al-Ankaboot (29) — Ayah 32

قَالَ إِنَّ فِيهَا لُوطًا ۚ قَالُوا۟ نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن فِيهَا ۖ لَنُنَجِّيَنَّهُۥ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ كَانَتْ مِنَ ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ ﴿32﴾
Ibrâhîm (Abraham) said: "But there is Lût (Lot) in it." They said: "We know better who is there. We will verily save him [Lût (Lot)] and his family except his wife: she will be of those who remain behind (i.e. she will be destroyed along with those who will be destroyed from her folk)."
قَالَ qāla He said
إِنَّ inna Indeed
فِيهَا fīhā in it
لُوطًۭا ۚ lūṭan (is) Lut
قَالُوا۟ qālū They said
نَحْنُ naḥnu We
أَعْلَمُ aʿlamu know better
بِمَن biman who
فِيهَا ۖ fīhā (is) in it
لَنُنَجِّيَنَّهُۥ lanunajjiyannahu We will surely save him
وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ wa-ahlahu and his family
إِلَّا illā except
ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ im'ra-atahu his wife
كَانَتْ kānat She
مِنَ mina (is) of
ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ l-ghābirīna those who remain behind

32-1. That is, We know who the wrongdoers and the believers are, and who the wicked ones are.

32-2. That is, among those who were left behind, the one who was to be destroyed through punishment was not a believing woman, but rather she was a supporter of her people. Therefore, she too was destroyed.
