Surah Al-Qasas (28) — Ayah 80

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمَ وَيْلَكُمْ ثَوَابُ ٱللَّهِ خَيْرٌ لِّمَنْ ءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَـٰلِحًا وَلَا يُلَقَّىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلصَّـٰبِرُونَ ﴿80﴾
But those who had been given (religious) knowledge said: "Woe to you! The Reward of Allâh (in the Hereafter) is better for those who believe and do righteous good deeds, and this none shall attain except those who are As-Sâbirûn (the patient in following the truth)."
وَقَالَ waqāla But said
ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who
أُوتُوا۟ ūtū were given
ٱلْعِلْمَ l-ʿil'ma the knowledge
وَيْلَكُمْ waylakum Woe to you
ثَوَابُ thawābu (The) reward
ٱللَّهِ l-lahi (of) Allah
خَيْرٌۭ khayrun (is) better
لِّمَنْ liman for (he) who
ءَامَنَ āmana believes
وَعَمِلَ waʿamila and does
صَـٰلِحًۭا ṣāliḥan righteous (deeds)
وَلَا walā And not
يُلَقَّىٰهَآ yulaqqāhā it is granted
إِلَّا illā except
ٱلصَّـٰبِرُونَ l-ṣābirūna (to) the patient ones

80-1. That is, those who possessed knowledge of the religion and were aware of the true reality of the world and its manifestations, they said: What is this? It is nothing. The reward and recompense that Allah has kept for the people of faith and those who perform righteous deeds is far better than this. As it is mentioned in the Hadith Qudsi, Allah says: "I have prepared for My righteous servants such things that no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has ever imagined." (al-Bukhari, Kitab al-Tawheed)

80-2. That is, in "yulaqqāhā", the pronoun "hā" refers to the word, and this is the statement of Allah. And if it is considered as a continuation of the statement of the people of knowledge, then the pronoun "hā" will refer to Paradise, meaning that only those who are patient will be deserving of Paradise—those who abstain from worldly pleasures and desire the life of the Hereafter.
