وَلَمَّا تَوَجَّهَ تِلْقَآءَ مَدْيَنَ قَالَ عَسَىٰ رَبِّىٓ أَن يَهْدِيَنِى سَوَآءَ ٱلسَّبِيلِ ﴿22﴾
And when he went towards (the land of) Madyan (Midian), he said: "It may be that my Lord guides me to the Right Way."
وَلَمَّا walammā And when
تَوَجَّهَ tawajjaha he turned his face
تِلْقَآءَ til'qāa towards
مَدْيَنَ madyana Madyan
قَالَ qāla he said
عَسَىٰ ʿasā Perhaps
رَبِّىٓ rabbī my Lord
أَن an [that]
يَهْدِيَنِى yahdiyanī will guide me
سَوَآءَ sawāa (to the) sound
ٱلسَّبِيلِ l-sabīli way

22-1. Thus Allah accepted their supplication and guided them to such a straight path by which both their worldly life and Hereafter were set right, that is, they became both guides and guided, themselves rightly guided and also showing the path of guidance to others.
