Surah Al-Qasas (28) — Ayah 14

وَلَمَّا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُۥ وَٱسْتَوَىٰٓ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ حُكْمًا وَعِلْمًا ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ﴿14﴾
And when he attained his full strength, and was perfect (in manhood), We bestowed on him Hukm (Prophethood and right judgement of the affairs) and religious knowledge [of the religion of his forefathers i.e. Islâmic Monotheism]. And thus do We reward the Muhsinûn (i.e. good doers. See the footnote of V.9:120).
وَلَمَّا walammā And when
بَلَغَ balagha he reached
أَشُدَّهُۥ ashuddahu his full strength
وَٱسْتَوَىٰٓ wa-is'tawā and became mature
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ ātaynāhu We bestowed upon him
حُكْمًۭا ḥuk'man wisdom
وَعِلْمًۭا ۚ waʿil'man and knowledge
وَكَذَٰلِكَ wakadhālika And thus
نَجْزِى najzī We reward
ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ l-muḥ'sinīna the good-doers

14-1. By "command and knowledge" is meant prophethood, so how he reached this position, its details are in the following verses. According to some commentators, this does not refer to prophethood but rather to intellect and wisdom and those sciences which he learned while living in his ancestral and familial environment.
