وَمَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرًا وَمَكَرْنَا مَكْرًا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ﴿50﴾
So they plotted a plot, and We plotted a plot, while they perceived not.
وَمَكَرُوا۟ wamakarū So they plotted
مَكْرًۭا makran a plot
وَمَكَرْنَا wamakarnā and We planned
مَكْرًۭا makran a plan
وَهُمْ wahum while they
لَا (did) not
يَشْعُرُونَ yashʿurūna perceive

50-1. Their scheme was precisely this: they swore among themselves that they would carry out this plan of murder in the darkness of night, and before three days were completed, they would finish off Salih (AS) and his household.

50-2. That is, We gave them the recompense for their conspiracy and destroyed them. This too has been described as مَكَرْنَا مَكْرًا.

50-3. They could not comprehend this plan (makr) of Allah.
