Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

37-1. Here, the singular form is used to address, whereas previously the plural form was used, because sometimes the entire group is considered in the address, and sometimes the leader.

37-2. Prophet Sulaiman (عليه السلام) was not merely a king, he was also a messenger of Allah. Therefore, it was not possible for him to humiliate people without reason, but this is the outcome of war and fighting, because war itself means bloodshed and captivity, and this is what is meant by humiliation and disgrace. Otherwise, Allah’s messengers do not humiliate people without cause. Such was the conduct and exemplary character of the Prophet ﷺ during times of war.
