وَحُشِرَ لِسُلَيْمَـٰنَ جُنُودُهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ وَٱلطَّيْرِ فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ ﴿17﴾
And there were gathered before Sulaimân (Solomon) his hosts of jinn and men, and birds, and they all were set in battle order (marching forward).
وَحُشِرَ waḥushira And were gathered
لِسُلَيْمَـٰنَ lisulaymāna for Sulaiman
جُنُودُهُۥ junūduhu his hosts
مِنَ mina of
ٱلْجِنِّ l-jini jinn
وَٱلْإِنسِ wal-insi and the men
وَٱلطَّيْرِ wal-ṭayri and the birds
فَهُمْ fahum and they
يُوزَعُونَ yūzaʿūna (were) set in rows

17-1. In this, the unique characteristic and virtue of Hazrat Sulaiman (علیہ السلام) is mentioned, in which he is distinguished throughout the history of humanity: that his rule was not only over humans, but also over jinn, animals, birds, and even the wind was under his command. It is stated that all the armies of Sulaiman (علیہ السلام)—that is, the jinn, humans, and birds—were gathered together. That is, this army was assembled to go somewhere.

17-2. That is, all were divided into separate groups (by category), for example, a group of humans, a group of jinn, a group of birds and animals, etc.
