Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

43-1. The wisdom apparent in Prophet Musa عليه السلام telling the magicians to first display their tricks is that, firstly, it would become clear to them that Allah’s Messenger is not afraid of the gathering of such a large number of renowned magicians and their magical deceptions. Secondly, the purpose could also be that when, by Allah’s command, all these deceptions are nullified in an instant, it would have a positive effect on the onlookers, and perhaps in this way more people would come to believe in Allah. And this is exactly what happened; in fact, the magicians themselves were the first to believe, as will be mentioned ahead.
