وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَ كُلَّ دَآبَّةٍ مِّن مَّآءٍ ۖ فَمِنْهُم مَّن يَمْشِى عَلَىٰ بَطْنِهِۦ وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَمْشِى عَلَىٰ رِجْلَيْنِ وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَمْشِى عَلَىٰٓ أَرْبَعٍ ۚ يَخْلُقُ ٱللَّهُ مَا يَشَآءُ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ﴿45﴾
Allâh has created every moving (living) creature from water. Of them there are some that creep on their bellies, and some that walk on two legs, and some that walk on four. Allâh creates what He wills. Verily Allâh is Able to do all things.
وَٱللَّهُ wal-lahu And Allah
خَلَقَ khalaqa created
كُلَّ kulla every
دَآبَّةٍۢ dābbatin moving creature
مِّن min from
مَّآءٍۢ ۖ māin water
فَمِنْهُم famin'hum Of them
مَّن man (is a kind) who
يَمْشِى yamshī walks
عَلَىٰ ʿalā on
بَطْنِهِۦ baṭnihi its belly
وَمِنْهُم wamin'hum and of them
مَّن man (is a kind) who
يَمْشِى yamshī walks
عَلَىٰ ʿalā on
رِجْلَيْنِ rij'layni two legs
وَمِنْهُم wamin'hum and of them
مَّن man (is a kind) who
يَمْشِى yamshī walks
عَلَىٰٓ ʿalā on
أَرْبَعٍۢ ۚ arbaʿin four
يَخْلُقُ yakhluqu Allah creates
ٱللَّهُ l-lahu Allah creates
مَا what
يَشَآءُ ۚ yashāu He wills
إِنَّ inna Indeed
ٱللَّهَ l-laha Allah
عَلَىٰ ʿalā on
كُلِّ kulli every
شَىْءٍۢ shayin thing
قَدِيرٌۭ qadīrun (is) All-Powerful

45-1. Just as snakes, fish, and other insects and crawling creatures are.
45-2. Just as humans and birds are.
45-3. Just as all quadrupeds and other animals are.
45-4. This is an indication that there are also some animals that have more than four legs, such as crabs, spiders, and many terrestrial insects.
