Verily those who brought forth the slander (against ‘Âishah رضي الله عنها the wife of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم) are a group among you. Consider it not a bad thing for you. Nay, it is good for you. Unto every man among them will be paid that which he had earned of the sin, and as for him among them who had the greater share therein, his will be a great torment.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

11-1. By "Ifk" is meant that incident of Ifk in which the hypocrites tried to stain the garment of chastity and honor of Hazrat Aisha (RA). But Allah Almighty revealed a verse in the Holy Quran regarding the sanctity of Hazrat Aisha, making her purity and chastity even clearer. The meaning of اِفْک is to turn something upside down. In this incident too, since the hypocrites turned the matter upside down—Hazrat Aisha was actually deserving of praise, of noble lineage and exalted character, not of slander. But the oppressors made this embodiment of chastity the target of slander and false accusation, contrary to her reality.

11-2. A group or party is called عَصْبَۃ because they are a source of strength and support for each other.

11-3. Because, firstly, you will receive great reward due to the distress and grief caused to you; secondly, from the heavens, the sanctity of Hazrat Aisha, her exalted status, and the honor and virtue of her family became even more prominent; in addition, there are many aspects of admonition and advice for the believers in this.

11-4. By this is meant Abdullah bin Ubayy, the hypocrite, who was the ringleader of this conspiracy.
