Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

2. 1. In the mentioned verse, the earthquake that is referred to, whose consequences are described in the next verse, meaning that people will be overcome by intense fear, terror, and panic, this will occur before the Day of Judgment and with it the world will come to an end. Or, it will happen after the Day of Judgment when people will rise from their graves and gather in the field of resurrection. Many commentators hold the first opinion. While some commentators hold the second opinion and in its support they present those hadiths, for example, Allah Almighty will command Adam (علیہ السلام) to take out 999 out of every thousand of his descendants for Hell. Upon hearing this, pregnant women will miscarry, children will become old, and people will appear intoxicated, although they will not be intoxicated, it will only be due to the severity of the punishment. This was very hard on the companions, their faces changed, and when the Prophet ﷺ saw this, he said (do not worry), these 999 will be from Gog and Magog and only one will be from you. Your (number) among the people will be like a black hair on the side of a white ox or a white hair on the side of a black ox, and I hope that among the people of Paradise you will be a quarter, or a third, or half, upon hearing which the companions رضوان اللہ علیہم اجمعین raised the slogan of Allahu Akbar in happiness (Sahih Bukhari, Tafsir Surah Hajj). The first opinion is also not without weight; some weak hadiths also support it. Therefore, if by the earthquake and its conditions is meant the intensity of panic and terror (which is apparent), then this state of intense panic and terror will occur on both occasions, so both opinions can be correct because on both occasions the condition of the people will be as described in this verse and in the narration of Sahih Bukhari.
