لَوْ كَانَ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ ءَالِهَةً مَّا وَرَدُوهَا ۖ وَكُلٌّ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ ﴿99﴾
Had these (idols) been âlihah (gods), they would not have entered there (Hell), and all of them will abide therein.
لَوْ law If
كَانَ kāna were
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ hāulāi these
ءَالِهَةًۭ ālihatan gods
مَّا not
وَرَدُوهَا ۖ waradūhā they (would) have come to it
وَكُلٌّۭ wakullun And all
فِيهَا fīhā therein
خَـٰلِدُونَ khālidūna will abide forever

99. 1 That is, if these were in fact deities, they would have power and would prevent you from entering Hell. But they themselves are going into Hell as a lesson. How could they prevent you from going? Therefore, both the worshippers and the worshipped will remain in Hell forever.
