Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

75. 1. Hazrat Lut (peace be upon him) was the nephew (brother's son) of Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and was among those who believed in Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and migrated with him from Iraq to Syria. Allah also blessed him with knowledge and wisdom, that is, prophethood. The region where he was sent as a prophet is called Amurah and Sodom. This was a fertile area adjacent to the Dead Sea of Palestine towards Jordan, a large part of which is now part of the Dead Sea. His people were distinguished for heinous acts such as liwat (homosexuality), making indecent remarks at passersby while sitting on the roads, harassing them, throwing stones and pebbles at them, etc., which Allah has described here as "khabaith" (impure deeds). Eventually, Hazrat Lut (peace be upon him) was included in Allah's mercy, that is, he and his followers were saved, and the nation was destroyed.
