سُوْرَةُ الْاَنْۣبِيَآءِ
Surah Al-Anbiyaa (21) — Ayah 34
وَمَا جَعَلْنَا لِبَشَرٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ ٱلْخُلْدَ ۖ أَفَإِي۟ن مِّتَّ فَهُمُ ٱلْخَـٰلِدُونَ ﴿34﴾
Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
And We granted not to any human being immortality before you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): then if you die, would they live forever?

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf

34. 1. In response to the disbelievers, who used to say about the Prophet ﷺ that one day he will surely die, Allah Almighty said that death is destined for every human being, and by this principle, Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, is certainly not an exception, because he too is a human being, and We have not ordained eternity and everlasting life for any human. But will those who say this themselves not die? This also refutes the idolaters who believe in the perpetual life of deities, prophets, and saints, and on this basis consider them to be fulfillers of needs and removers of difficulties. So we seek refuge with Allah from this corrupt belief which contradicts the Quran.
