Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

39. 1. The reference is to Pharaoh, who was both an enemy of Allah and of Musa (Moses) (AS). That is, when the wooden chest floated and reached the edge of the royal palace, it was taken out and opened, and inside was an innocent child. At the request of Pharaoh’s wife, he was kept in the royal palace for upbringing.

39. 2. That is, love for you was placed in Pharaoh’s heart or in the hearts of the common people.

39. 3. Thus, observe the perfection and marvel of Allah’s power and His protection and guardianship: the very child for whose sake Pharaoh had countless children killed so that he would not survive, Allah is having that child raised in his own lap, and the mother is nursing her child, but is also receiving wages from that same enemy of Musa (AS).
