Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
2. 1. This means that We did not reveal the Quran so that you would grieve excessively over their disbelief and put yourself in hardship and sorrow due to their lack of faith, as is indicated in this verse. (فَلَعَلَّكَبَاخِعٌنَّفْسَكَعَلٰٓياٰثَارِهِمْاِنْلَّمْيُؤْمِنُوْابِهٰذَاالْحَدِيْثِاَسَفًا) 18. Al-Kahf:6) So if these people do not believe in this matter, will you then destroy yourself with grief following after them? Rather, We have revealed the Quran for admonition and remembrance so that the inclination towards Our oneness, which is hidden in every human's subconscious, may become clear and manifest. Thus, here "shaqā’" is in the meaning of "‘anā’" and "ta‘ab", that is, hardship and fatigue.
