Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
122. 1. Some people, reasoning from this, say that the aforementioned mistakes by Adam (علیہ السلام) occurred before prophethood, and that he was granted prophethood after this. But we have explained the reality of this 'disobedience' on the previous page; it does not contradict infallibility. Because such admonition and advice, which is not related to the preaching of the message or legislation, but rather to personal actions, and even in this, the cause has been attributed to weakness, then it is only due to their greatness and elevated status that even a minor mistake by the great is considered significant. Therefore, the meaning of the verse is not that after this we chose him for prophethood, but rather that after regret and repentance, we reinstated him to the same position that he previously held. The decision to send him down to earth was based on Our will, wisdom, and expedience; it should not be understood from this that Our wrath descended upon Adam.
