Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
98. 1. The Jews used to say that Mikail is our friend. Allah Almighty said: All of these are My accepted servants; whoever is an enemy to them or to any one of them, he is also an enemy to Allah. In the hadith, it is stated: Whoever shows enmity to any of My friends has declared war against Me. Thus, enmity towards any one of Allah’s friends is enmity towards all the friends of Allah, and even towards Allah Himself. From this, it is clear that love and respect for the friends of Allah is extremely necessary, and harboring hatred and enmity towards them is such a great crime that Allah Almighty declares war against such a person. Who are the friends of Allah? For this, see (اَلَآاِنَّاَوْلِيَاۗءَاللّٰهِلَاخَوْفٌعَلَيْهِمْوَلَاھُمْيَحْزَنُوْنَ 62 ښ الَّذِيْنَاٰمَنُوْاوَكَانُوْايَتَّقُوْنَ 63ۭ) 10:62, 63. However, love and respect do not mean that after their death, offerings should be made in their name, their graves should be washed, sheets should be spread over them, they should be considered as fulfillers of needs, removers of difficulties, beneficent or harmful, people should stand with folded hands at their graves, or prostrate at their thresholds, etc., as unfortunately, in the name of love for the friends of Allah, this business of Lat and Manat is flourishing. In reality, this is not love, but worship of them, which is shirk and a great injustice. May Allah Almighty protect us from this trial of grave worship.
