Surah Al-Baqara (2) — Ayah 68

قَالُوا۟ ٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّن لَّنَا مَا هِىَ ۚ قَالَ إِنَّهُۥ يَقُولُ إِنَّهَا بَقَرَةٌ لَّا فَارِضٌ وَلَا بِكْرٌ عَوَانٌۢ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ فَٱفْعَلُوا۟ مَا تُؤْمَرُونَ ﴿68﴾
They said, "Call upon your Lord for us that He may make plain to us what it is!" He said, "He says, ‘Verily, it is a cow neither too old nor too young, but (it is) between the two conditions’, so do what you are commanded."
قَالُوا۟ qālū They said
ٱدْعُ ud'ʿu Pray
لَنَا lanā for us
رَبَّكَ rabbaka (to) your Lord
يُبَيِّن yubayyin to make clear
لَّنَا lanā to us
مَا what
هِىَ ۚ hiya it (is)
قَالَ qāla He said
إِنَّهُۥ innahu Indeed, He
يَقُولُ yaqūlu says
إِنَّهَا innahā [Indeed] it
بَقَرَةٌۭ baqaratun (is) a cow
لَّا not
فَارِضٌۭ fāriḍun old
وَلَا walā and not
بِكْرٌ bik'run young
عَوَانٌۢ ʿawānun middle aged
بَيْنَ bayna between
ذَٰلِكَ ۖ dhālika that
فَٱفْعَلُوا۟ fa-if'ʿalū so do
مَا what
تُؤْمَرُونَ tu'marūna you are commanded
