Surah Al-Baqara (2) — Ayah 63

وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَـٰقَكُمْ وَرَفَعْنَا فَوْقَكُمُ ٱلطُّورَ خُذُوا۟ مَآ ءَاتَيْنَـٰكُم بِقُوَّةٍ وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ مَا فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ ﴿63﴾
And (O Children of Israel, remember) when We took your covenant and We raised above you the Mount (saying): "Hold fast to that which We have given you, and remember that which is therein so that you may become Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - See V.2:2).
وَإِذْ wa-idh And when
أَخَذْنَا akhadhnā We took
مِيثَـٰقَكُمْ mīthāqakum your covenant
وَرَفَعْنَا warafaʿnā and We raised
فَوْقَكُمُ fawqakumu over you
ٱلطُّورَ l-ṭūra the mount
خُذُوا۟ khudhū Hold
مَآ what
ءَاتَيْنَـٰكُم ātaynākum We have given you
بِقُوَّةٍۢ biquwwatin with strength
وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ wa-udh'kurū and remember
مَا what
فِيهِ fīhi (is) in it
لَعَلَّكُمْ laʿallakum perhaps you
تَتَّقُونَ tattaqūna (would become) righteous

63. 1. When, regarding the commandments of the Torah, the Jews mischievously said that they would not be able to act upon the commandments, Allah raised Mount Tur above them like a canopy, at which they became frightened and promised to act upon them.
