Surah Al-Baqara (2) — Ayah 50

وَإِذْ فَرَقْنَا بِكُمُ ٱلْبَحْرَ فَأَنجَيْنَـٰكُمْ وَأَغْرَقْنَآ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَأَنتُمْ تَنظُرُونَ ﴿50﴾
And (remember) when We separated the sea for you and saved you and drowned Fir‘aun’s (Pharaoh) people while you were looking (at them, when the sea-water covered them).
وَإِذْ wa-idh And when
فَرَقْنَا faraqnā We parted
بِكُمُ bikumu for you
ٱلْبَحْرَ l-baḥra the sea
فَأَنجَيْنَـٰكُمْ fa-anjaynākum then We saved you
وَأَغْرَقْنَآ wa-aghraqnā and We drowned
ءَالَ āla (the) people
فِرْعَوْنَ fir'ʿawna (of) Firaun
وَأَنتُمْ wa-antum while you
تَنظُرُونَ tanẓurūna (were) looking

50. 1. The splitting of the sea and making a path through it was a miracle, the details of which are mentioned in Surah Shu'ara. This was not the ebb and flow of the sea as Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and other deniers of miracles think.
