In (to) this worldly life and in the Hereafter. And they ask you concerning orphans. Say: "The best thing is to work honestly in their property, and if you mix your affairs with theirs, then they are your brothers. And Allâh knows him who means mischief (e.g. to swallow their property) from him who means good (e.g. to save their property). And if Allâh had wished, He could have put you into difficulties. Truly, Allâh is All-Mighty, All-Wise."

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

220. 1. When the threat of punishment was revealed for those who wrongfully consume the wealth of orphans, the noble Companions ؓ became afraid and separated every belonging of the orphans, to the extent that if any food or drink was left over, they would not use it, and it would spoil, out of fear that they too might become deserving of that punishment. Upon this, this verse was revealed (Ibn Kathir).

220. 2. That is, He would not have allowed you to mix their wealth with your own even for the purpose of reform and improvement.
