The Cow · Medinan · Juz 2 · Page 33

Beautified is the life of this world for those who disbelieve, and they mock at those who believe. But those who obey Allâh’s Orders and keep away from what He has forbidden, will be above them on the Day of Resurrection. And Allâh gives (of His Bounty, Blessings, Favours, Honours on the Day of Resurrection) to whom He wills without limit.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

212. 1. Since the majority of Muslims consisted of the poor who were deprived of worldly comforts and conveniences, the disbelievers, that is, the Quraysh of Makkah, used to mock them, as has always been the custom of the wealthy in every era.

212. 2. The disbelievers mocked the poverty and simplicity of the believers; mentioning this, it is being said that on the Day of Resurrection, these very poor people will, due to their piety, be exalted. The connection of boundless provision is not only with the Hereafter but can also be with this world, as after a few years, Allah Almighty opened the doors of victories for the poor as well, through which worldly goods and abundance of sustenance became available.
