Surah Al-Baqara (2) — Ayah 206

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُ ٱتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ أَخَذَتْهُ ٱلْعِزَّةُ بِٱلْإِثْمِ ۚ فَحَسْبُهُۥ جَهَنَّمُ ۚ وَلَبِئْسَ ٱلْمِهَادُ ﴿206﴾
And when it is said to him, "Fear Allâh", he is led by arrogance to (more) crime. So enough for him is Hell, and worst indeed is that place to rest!
وَإِذَا wa-idhā And when
قِيلَ qīla it is said
لَهُ lahu to him
ٱتَّقِ ittaqi Fear
ٱللَّهَ l-laha Allah
أَخَذَتْهُ akhadhathu takes him
ٱلْعِزَّةُ l-ʿizatu (his) pride
بِٱلْإِثْمِ ۚ bil-ith'mi to [the] sins
فَحَسْبُهُۥ faḥasbuhu Then enough for him
جَهَنَّمُ ۚ jahannamu (is) Hell
وَلَبِئْسَ walabi'sa [and] surely an evil
ٱلْمِهَادُ l-mihādu [the] resting-place
