Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

172. 1. In this, the believers are commanded to eat all those things which Allah has made lawful, and are emphasized to express gratitude to Allah for it. From this, firstly, it is understood that only those things made lawful by Allah are pure; the things made unlawful are not pure, even if they seem very good to one's self (as, for example, the people of Europe are very fond of pork). Secondly, the animals and things attributed to idols, which the polytheists would make unlawful for themselves (the details of which are in Surah Al-An'am), this act of the polytheists is wrong, and in this way, a lawful thing does not become unlawful. Do not make them unlawful like they do (only those things are unlawful whose details are in the following verse). Thirdly, if you are worshippers of only one Allah, then be diligent in expressing gratitude.
