سُوْرَةُ البَقَرَةِ
Surah Al-Baqara (2) — Ayah 168
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ كُلُوا۟ مِمَّا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ حَلَـٰلًا طَيِّبًا وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا۟ خُطُوَٰتِ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ ﴿168﴾
Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
O mankind! Eat of that which is lawful and good on the earth, and follow not the footsteps of Shaitan (Satan). Verily, he is to you an open enemy.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf

168. 1. That is, do not make unlawful what Allah has made lawful by following Satan. Just as the polytheists did, they would declare animals dedicated to their idols as unlawful, the details of which will come in Surah Al-An'am. It is mentioned in the hadith that the Prophet ﷺ said: Allah Almighty says, "I created My servants as Hanif (upright), but Satan led them astray from their religion and made unlawful for them what I had made lawful for them." (Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-Jannah wa Sifat Na'imiha wa Ahliha, Bab al-Sifat allati Yu'rafu biha fi al-Dunya Ahl al-Jannah wa Ahl al-Nar)
