The Cow · Medinan · Juz 2 · Page 25

And of mankind are some who take (for worship) others besides Allâh as rivals (to Allâh). They love them as they love Allâh. But those who believe, love Allâh more (than anything else). If only, those who do wrong could see, when they will see the torment, that all power belongs to Allâh and that Allâh is Severe in punishment.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

165. 1. Despite the aforementioned proofs, there are such people who, leaving Allah aside, make others partners with Him and love them in the same way as one should love Allah. This was not only the case at the time of the Prophethood of Muhammad ﷺ, but the manifestations of shirk are still common today. In fact, even among those who claim to follow Islam, this disease has taken root. They have not only made others besides Allah, and saints and custodians of shrines, their refuge and the direction of their needs, but their love for them is even greater than for Allah. And the preaching of tawheed is as bitter for them as it was for the polytheists of Makkah, the depiction of which Allah has drawn in this verse 39:45. However, in contrast to the polytheists, the people of faith love Allah the most. Because when the polytheists are trapped in the sea, they forget their deities and call only upon Allah there. In summary, the polytheists, in severe distress, call only upon the One Allah for help.
