وَدَّ كَثِيرٌ مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَوْ يَرُدُّونَكُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ إِيمَـٰنِكُمْ كُفَّارًا حَسَدًا مِّنْ عِندِ أَنفُسِهِم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَٱعْفُوا۟ وَٱصْفَحُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِىَ ٱللَّهُ بِأَمْرِهِۦٓ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ﴿109﴾
Many of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) wish that if they could turn you away as disbelievers after you have believed, out of envy from their ownselves, even after the truth (that Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم is Allâh’s Messenger) has become manifest unto them. But forgive and overlook, till Allâh brings His Command. Verily, Allâh is Able to do all things.
وَدَّ wadda Wish[ed]
كَثِيرٌۭ kathīrun many
مِّنْ min from
أَهْلِ ahli (the) People
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ l-kitābi (of) the Book
لَوْ law if
يَرُدُّونَكُم yaruddūnakum they could turn you back
مِّنۢ min from
بَعْدِ baʿdi after
إِيمَـٰنِكُمْ īmānikum your (having) faith
كُفَّارًا kuffāran (to) disbelievers
حَسَدًۭا ḥasadan (out of) jealousy
مِّنْ min from
عِندِ ʿindi (of)
أَنفُسِهِم anfusihim themselves
مِّنۢ min (even) from
بَعْدِ baʿdi after
مَا [what]
تَبَيَّنَ tabayyana became clear
لَهُمُ lahumu to them
ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ l-ḥaqu the truth
فَٱعْفُوا۟ fa-iʿ'fū So forgive
وَٱصْفَحُوا۟ wa-iṣ'faḥū and overlook
حَتَّىٰ ḥattā until
يَأْتِىَ yatiya brings
ٱللَّهُ l-lahu Allah
بِأَمْرِهِۦٓ ۗ bi-amrihi His Command
إِنَّ inna Indeed
ٱللَّهَ l-laha Allah
عَلَىٰ ʿalā on
كُلِّ kulli every
شَىْءٍۢ shayin thing
قَدِيرٌۭ qadīrun (is) All-Powerful
