Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
80. 1. In the context of the revelation of these verses, it is mentioned that the father of Hazrat Amr bin al-As, 'As bin Wa'il, who was among the severe enemies of Islam, owed a debt to Hazrat Khabbab bin al-Aratt, who used to work as a blacksmith. Hazrat Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him) demanded his money from him, so he said, "I will not give you your money until you disbelieve in Muhammad ﷺ." He replied, "Even if you die and are resurrected, I will never do that." He said, "Alright, then so be it. When I am raised again after death and I am granted wealth and children there as well, then I will pay you your money." (Sahih Bukhari) Allah Almighty said, does he have knowledge of the unseen that he will have wealth and children there as well? Or does he have any covenant with Allah? Certainly not! This is nothing but mockery and ridicule of Allah Almighty and His verses. The wealth and children he is talking about, We are their inheritors, meaning as soon as he dies, his connection with them will be severed, and he will come to Our court alone—neither wealth will be with him, nor children, nor any group. However, there will be punishment, which We will continue to increase for him and for others like him.
