Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

47. 1. This is not a supplicatory greeting that one Muslim gives to another Muslim, rather it is an expression of leaving the addressee, as in 25. Al-Furqan: 63) 'When the ignorant address them, they say: Peace.' In this, the way of the people of faith and the servants of Allah is described.

47. 2. This was said at a time when Prophet Ibrahim ﷺ was not yet aware of the prohibition against praying for forgiveness for a polytheist; when he became aware of this, he stopped making such supplications At-Tawbah: 114)
