Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
12. 1 That is, Allah granted Yahya (peace be upon him) to Zakariya (peace be upon him), and when he grew somewhat older, though he was still a child, Allah commanded him to hold fast to the Book, meaning to act upon it firmly. By "Book" is meant either the Torah or a specific book revealed to him, of which we have no knowledge.
12. 2 By "Hukm" is meant wisdom, intellect, understanding, comprehension of the religious rulings recorded in the Book, the combination of knowledge and action, or prophethood. Imam Shawkani states that there is nothing preventing all these things from being included in "Hukm."
