Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

8. 1 This is a warning to them that if you reform yourselves, you will become deserving of Allah’s mercy. This means success and honor in this world and the Hereafter. But if you again choose the path of disobedience to Allah and commit corruption in the land, then We will again subject you to humiliation and disgrace, just as We have dealt with you twice before. And this is exactly what happened: these Jews did not refrain from their actions and repeated the same behavior regarding the Prophethood of Muhammad ﷺ as they had done with the Prophethood of Musa and the Prophethood of Isa. As a result, these Jews were, for the third time, humiliated at the hands of the Muslims and, with great disgrace, had to leave Madinah and Khaybar.

8. 2 That is, after the disgrace in this world, there is the separate punishment of Hell in the Hereafter and its torment, which they will have to endure there.
