Surah Al-Israa (17) — Ayah 11

وَيَدْعُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ بِٱلشَّرِّ دُعَآءَهُۥ بِٱلْخَيْرِ ۖ وَكَانَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ عَجُولًا ﴿11﴾
And man invokes (Allâh) for evil as he invokes (Allâh) for good and man is ever hasty [i.e., if he is angry with somebody, he invokes (saying): "O Allâh! Curse him" and that one should not do, but one should be patient].
وَيَدْعُ wayadʿu And prays
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ l-insānu the man
بِٱلشَّرِّ bil-shari for evil
دُعَآءَهُۥ duʿāahu (as) he prays
بِٱلْخَيْرِ ۖ bil-khayri for the good
وَكَانَ wakāna And is
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ l-insānu the man
عَجُولًۭا ʿajūlan ever hasty

11. 1. Since man is hasty and impatient, when he is afflicted with hardship, he supplicates for his own destruction in the same way as he supplicates to his Lord for good. It is the grace and mercy of the Lord that He does not accept his supplications for harm. This same subject has already been mentioned in (وَلَوْ يُعَجِّلُ اللّٰهُ للنَّاس الشَّرَّ اسْتِعْجَالَھُمْ بالْخَيْرِ لَقُضِيَ اِلَيْهِمْ اَجَلُھُمْ ۭ فَنَذَرُ الَّذِيْنَ لَا يَرْجُوْنَ لِقَاۗءَنَا فِيْ طُغْيَانِهِمْ يَعْمَهُوْنَ) 10. Yunus:11).
