Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
8. 1 That is, the real purpose and benefit of their creation is for you to ride upon them, however, they are also a source of adornment. Some jurists have deduced from the separate mention of horses, mules, and donkeys that the horse is also prohibited just as the donkey and mule are. Moreover, the mention of edible cattle has already occurred earlier. Therefore, the three animals mentioned in this verse are only for (riding).
8. 2 In the lower parts of the earth, likewise in the sea, and in waterless deserts and forests, Allah continues to create creatures whose knowledge is known to none but Allah. Included in this are also those things made by humans, who, by utilizing the intellect and abilities given by Allah, combine His created things in various ways to prepare them, such as buses, cars, trains, ships, airplanes, and countless such things, and those expected in the future.
