سُوْرَةُ النَّحْلِ
Surah An-Nahl (16) — Ayah 43
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًا نُّوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِمْ ۚ فَسْـَٔلُوٓا۟ أَهْلَ ٱلذِّكْرِ إِن كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿43﴾

And We sent not (as Our Messengers) before you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) any but men, whom We sent revelation, (to preach and invite mankind to believe in the Oneness of Allâh). So ask (you, O pagans of Makkah) of those who know the Scripture [learned men of the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)], if you know not.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf

43. 1. By اَ ھْلُ الذِّکْر is meant the People of the Book who were familiar with the previous prophets and their history. The meaning is that all the messengers We sent were human beings, so if Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, is also a human, this is not something new that you should deny his prophethood because of his humanity. If you are in doubt, then ask the People of the Book whether the previous prophets were human or angels? If they were angels, then indeed you may deny; but if they were also human, then why do you deny the prophethood of Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, merely because of his humanity?
