سُوْرَةُ النَّحْلِ
Surah An-Nahl (16) — Ayah 107
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمُ ٱسْتَحَبُّوا۟ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا عَلَى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ ﴿107﴾
Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
That is because they loved and preferred the life of this world over that of the Hereafter. And Allâh guides not the people who disbelieve.

17. 1. This is the reason for choosing disbelief after faith (becoming apostate): firstly, the world is beloved to them. Secondly, they are not even worthy of guidance in the sight of Allah.
